Zero Waste Christmas Gifts

I have recently started this zero-waste journey, and with Christmas coming up, I wanted to get my family some zero-waste Christmas gifts that were also cute and fun. So here are some of the ideas I came up with and made for my family members for Christmas.

1. Coffee candles

There are plenty of candles that are made of all natural ingredients that come in recyclable jars. I decided to make my own coffee candles.

Materials:

  • Soy wax or Beeswax (I used both)
  • Coffee grounds
  • Mason Jar (or any other glass or tin jar)
  • Candle wick
  • Pencil
First I tied the candle wick onto a pencil so that it would stay straight in my jar. You could also glue the wick down for added stability.

Then, I melted my wax, by microwaving it on 50% power for 3 minutes. You will have to microwave more or less depending on the amount of wax you are using. (I melted four cups of wax).

When it was completely melted, I mixed in four tablespoons of ground coffee into the wax (one tbsp per cup of wax).

Then I simply poured the wax into the jar and waited for it to cool. The candle looked beautiful when it was completely cooled, and smelled delicious. You could also use any teas or essential oils instead of coffee.

2. DIY Zero-waste Chapstick

I already have a blog-post for this DIY, you can click here to see how to make it :)

3. DIY coffee sugar scrubs

This is by far the easiest DIY zero-waste gift that you could give someone. This DIY can be done in under 5 minutes. This is perfect for a last minute gift idea.

Materials:

  • Coconut oil
  • Coffee grounds
  • Sugar
  • Jar
Mix together 1 part coffee grounds, 4 parts sugar, and 1 part coconut oil! That is literally it! It will make a nourishing and luxurious scrub that smells amazing.

I get commission for purchases or clicks made through links in this post.
