Zero Waste Chapstick Recipe
The other day I was looking for some zero waste chapstick or lip balm to swap into my daily routine, but I realized there aren't many out there. So I searched for some recipes for a natural homemade chapstick and added my own little twist to it.
Chapstick
I made my own Zero Waste chapstick by purchasing some 1oz cardboard chapstick tubes online, along with some blocks of organic beeswax, organic coconut oil, and some organic peppermint essential oil.
I melted two parts beeswax to one part coconut oil in a microwave safe container, stirring every 30 seconds. When it was completely melted, I added 15 drops of peppermint oil and stirred it in (this is an optional step, and you could substitute in any essential oil of your choice).
Then I poured the mixture into the tube and let it cool for 4 hours. Then it was ready to use! It's very moisturizing I love that the packaging is biodegradable instead of the typical plastic chapstick containers. You could also use a small glass jar to be even more enviromentally friendly! I love this chapstick and I will continue to remake it whenever I run out :)
Ingredients:
2 Parts Organic Beeswax
1 Part coconut oil
15 drops of organic peppermint essential oil
